Its been a long time since I blogged. Many things have happened since then..

The biggest news recently, is the passing of SnickerDoodle.. She started to have trouble breathing, and we tried the best we could to get her the help she needed. But in the end it was too much for her..

Around that same time, I made a large discovery in relation to my job. I discovered a bug in BIND, and major piece of software in the internet world. Its the main software used to convert "www.cnn.com" into the numbers that the internet really uses... Since the bug has not been made public yet, I can't discuss in detail.. Most users will not be affected, so no, I haven't broken your internet yet.. I'm not sure when they release the announcement, if I will have credit or not in it.. Hopefully i will..

To give an idea of how important this is, BIND is the probably one of the most heavily reviewed pieces of software in the world.. Professionals look at it, hackers look at it, and even hobbyists look at it, trying to find and fix bugs.. Its been around a long time.. And I found a major hole/bug..

Teri and I took a vacation up the California coast, driving up to my Aunt's place in Concord, CA, also visiting my grandmother.. We drove up the coast, stopping by San Simeon, AKA Hearst Castle. Amazing.. And the drive up the coast... NIce windy turny roads.. I drove more miles in 3rd and 4th gear than I have since I bought my car. We have some pictures from the trip here

And finally... After the passing of Snicker, we decided to get a new kitten.. My coworker Ivanka's cat recently had kittens, so shortly after the Cali trip, we adopted. She's been in the house 36 hours now, and adjusting well. She hasn't met Stash face to face yet, as Stash seems to be afraid, and is hiding in the closet. Sasha has met her, and the kitten is still a bit unsure about this large furry beast 50X her size (Kitten weighs 1lb 8oz, Sasha is 85lbs..)..

We haven't completely decided on a name yet.. But the current leader is "Starbuck".. When we first got her, we weren't sure of the sex (and still not sure, vet thinks its a she, too small to tell right now.)... Since Starbuck in Battlestar Galactica is male in the 70's version, and female in the 2000's version, seems to fit.. Other ideas are Slippers, Sneakers, Silk (Prince(ss) Kheldar, David Eddings books) , Smeagol, and Syracuse Snowball (see pics for why.).. PIcs are here
